JONNY GARDiNER
JONNY GARDINER: 1969 - PRESENT

CONTAGIOUS (2009)

$9.99 AUD

Contagious is my first solo CD. It features tracks written as far back as 1996 (Gravity) and is like a greatest hits of songs I have written and performed with different bands over the years that never saw the light of day! Band tracks were laid down at Love Hurtz Studio with my Neville’s buddy Mark Marriott on the skins and Matt Fell on bass. Guitars and vocals were recorded in my home studio. Half the tracks were mixed by Matt Fell and the other half by the awesome Lindsay Rimes at Songrimes studio. I was glad to finally get this one out after such a long period of writing & focusing on everybody else’s projects!

ROMP: 1999 - 2002

ROMP EP 2 (2002)

$9.99 AUD

We signed a distribution deal with MGM and got this EP into the shops. New Years resolution got a bit airplay on MMM and we made an hilarious video for Jonny likes your sister. We had a ball doing this EP and the gigs that followed. The band consisted of Tim Hagan on Bass and my old great buddy Steve Piper (R.I.P) from the Home & Away Band & Rock Palace on drums. Again a lot of this was recorded at home except for the bed tracks which were done at Damain Gerard Studios. I mixed it myself and must say it came up pretty good. After this we wrote some very funny but rather rude rock n roll songs that will never see the light of day. I'll never forget them though. Craig Thomson has recently released a great roots rock record and is doing lots of solo gigs in the pubs. Hes a great ROCK singer.

ROMP EP 1 (1999)

Recorded at my home studio in 1999. My good old mate Craig Thomson & I were inspired to put a Cock Rock band together as a reaction to the limp music of the time. This offering has programmed drums so may lack the punch I was after but regardless the Vocals and Guitars kick ASS. Enjoy

MONTANA: 1999 - 2001

THE MONTANA ALBUM / BUBBLEGUM LOVE (2000)

Another massive project. I met the Montana kids in L.A when I was there with Jon Stevens. They played the Whiskey a go go and other cool joints and asked me to join the band when we got home to Sydney. Paul Scott (another fantastic songwriter) hooked up with producer John Haeny (The Doors, Jackson Brown) and we went into pre production for almost a year then into Velvet Sound, Festival & 301 to record and mix this album. A look back on this period with great fondness, again I learnt so much working with the masters. I dont own the copyright to this stuff so will only put a couple of tracks on here for streaming. Paul Scott was definitely the chief songwriter and all round champion.

I haven't spoke to Jon in a while so I hope he doesnt kill me for doing this but Im proud to have worked with Jon and played in his band in L.A. Best of all he actually recorded a couple of my songs and we did a bit of writing. Truly one of the best singers in this country and a top bloke. MAKE A ROCK ALBUM JON PLEASE PLEASE!! CALL ME.

DEMO 2 (GLUE 1997)

So we kick the old guys out of the band (Danny McCarthy & Paul Reed)and think we have the stuff to go it alone. Andrew (Charlton) Hill, Simon Bailey and myself work day and night writing and recording the next batch of tunes. We even performed a few shows, under the name "Glue", but it wasnt to be. These tracks are predominantly my contribution to the band.

DEMO 1 (DREAMSEED 1996)

After 4 years of cover band wilderness it was time to get writing again. I answered an add in the drum media and got the guitarist gig in the band I though would be my ticket. Tentatively called "The Dreamseed" we were managed by Cold Chisels manager Rod Willis, assisted by producer Charles Fisher and with band mates that included a Home & Away Star yes another one!) and guys that had written hit songs before (for artists like Daryl Braithwaite)this was it. I went part time at work and we were at it 8 hours a day 3 days per week. It was 18months of writing and recording. I learnt a lot. Heres a small selection of the many tracks we wrote. Most of these were my babys but some of these songs are too good to sit in a box for the rest of time and never heard so Im putting them on here. Sue me! Some of my most rewarding moments here.

ROCK PALACE: 1989 - 1992

DEMO 2 (1991)

Thommo pisses off to England so Dac and I put Rock Palace back together and bring in Steve Piper (R.I.P). We rehearsed and wrote like maniacs. 12 Me You gets played on "Home Grown" (listen to the audio) and all goes well, until our dreaded last gig. I moved on.

DEMO 1 (1987)

I get drafted into this band by Steven Piper, a school mate. Craig Thomson (who plays the role of Martin Dibble on Home & Away) puts a band together and we jump on board. Craig is a massive Punk fan and its my introduction to all things punk. We do some big gigs including Australias Wonderland (see video page)Its great fun and my first real shot at the big time.
